To All butterfly lovers
Announcement: 2026 Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference of The Butterfly Society of Japan
The Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference of the Japanese Society of Butterfly Research will be held on Saturday, December 19th, 2026, at the Hongo Campus of the University of Tokyo.
At the Annual General Meeting, which is open to members only, we will report on this year’s activities and provide an overview of the projected financial results. We will also present candidate designs for the Society’s new emblem and hold a question-and-answer session in preparation for the upcoming vote.
The Annual Conference, which is open to the general public, will feature commemorative lectures by this year’s Society Award recipients. In addition, we are delighted to welcome Jou Nagai, a first-year junior high school student, as a special guest speaker. He will talk about his research on butterfly memory, particularly the much-publicized topic of how memories acquired during the larval stage are retained and passed on to adult butterflies.
There will be a reception. The deadline for registration is Monday, November 30th, 2026.
